The cargo container being built out by our friends a Cargo of Dreams has left it’s temporary home in the parking lot of the Frisco, Colorado Wal-Mart and is now headed for it’s permanent home in Ikageng, South Africa, where it will become part of a larger, 2,000+ sq. ft. teaching, training and resource center. We are so thankful to our friends at Cargo of Dreams and everyone who supported the project in the states with their time, talents and treasure… The container you transformed there will be used here to transform lives!
We are excited for the container to arrive in late September/early October to have the new center ready for the new school year which starts in January, enabling us to add additional classes and expand enrollment in the Naledi Christian Preschool from the 32 students we presently have to over 80 and employ 5 more staff. In addition to increasing the capacity of the preschool and creating more jobs, the new center will also offer additional meeting space for adults and a larger worship and teaching space.
Completion of the project here in South Africa will cost approximately $15,000 (US) to transport the container from the port of Durban to Ikageng, pour the cement footers for the containers and cement floor for the large (1,600 sq. ft.) open span room, build the non-load bearing brick walls, connect the water, sewer and electric and finish the interior. Many local tradesmen will be blessed with employment during that time, and once the arrival date of the container is more firm we will be announcing short-term (1, 2 or 3 week) service opportunities for all you Bob the Builders out there who would like to come to South Africa to assist in late October/early November. Watch this space for more details!
