Yes, we missed last month’s post, but what can we say, we’re crazy busy and short-staffed! With that in mind we’re going to eliminate all the fluff and get right to our praises and prayer requests…
PRAISES
Praise God, He provided for an AWESOME launch of the Naledi Christian Academy on Friday, August 8. The event was attended by about 150 community members, sponsors, potential sponsors, media and the U.S. Embassy even represented! The official program was short and sweet, highlighted by the Grade R (kindergarten) class that opened the event with the South African National Anthem, a couple more songs and a recitation of Psalm 100, their memory verse for the month. Following remarks from each of the four local organizations that have partnered on the project everyone rolled up their sleeves and got to work painting and landscaping. The woman pictured above didn’t let her young child keep her from helping… she just tied the child to her back and got busy painting the retaining walls of the action soccer field. Here’s a link to an article published in the Potchefstroom Herald, one of the local newspapers, and here’s another link to some photographs posted by the NorthWest Independent Newspaper on their Facebook page.
We’re also thanking Jesus for His faithfulness and provision as His plans for the school prevailed over a small group of people who tried to stop the development and force us off the property at a meeting held on the Monday following the launch.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Have we mentioned we are crazy busy and understaffed? The harvest is plentiful but the workers are truly few. Please pray with us to the Lord of the harvest to release workers into the field. We are still in need of “teacher trainers” to help us develop local staff as teachers and tutors to provide one-on-one assistance to the students that will be enrolling in grades 1 through 5 when the new school year starts in January. If you’d like to know more please email us at volunteers@tentmakerministries.com.
Christ has provided exceedingly, abundantly more than we could have ever thought or imagined, and we have no reason to believe He will not continue to do so as we endeavor to reach and teach even more for Him. In addition to the human resources required, please be praying for Him to release the financial resources the school expansion will require. If the Spirit moves you to do so, please click here to support our efforts financially.
Also please be praying for Christ to intervene on behalf of our two of our misisonaries whose South African visa extensions have been delayed which may impact their ability to return to the United States in October and South Africa in November.
Last but not least, please be praying for travel mercies for our International Field Coordinator who will be travelling back to South Africa at the end of the month.
